Unawatuna Beach

This is a picturesque crescent-shaped beach known for its golden sands, calm waters, and vibrant nightlife.

Where?
This beach is located in the Galle district and approximately 125 km from Colombo.

When?
It can be visited all year long, though the best time to visit is December to April, for calm seas and sunny weather.

Unawatuna is about 5 km southeast of Galle. It is a bay with a picturesque semicircular shallow beach. This place is popular for safe swimming because of the reef that protects the beach. You can enjoy some water sports or go snorkeling, wreck diving and cave diving. The other significance of this beach is that visitors are able to see the turtles laying eggs along the shore.
