Ratnapura National Museum keeps and displays one of the best ancient relic collections in the country. It is housed in a beautiful building called Ehelapola Walawuwa, which belongs to the 19h century. A collection of prehistoric fossils of elephants, rhinoceroses, and hippopotamuses found in gem pits from the Balangoda area; stuffed animals and snakes in jars, cultural musical instruments, traditional masks, local textiles, flags and local fabrics are the most interesting exhibits.
