This lighthouse is not in operation anymore but functions as a clock tower and is designated as a monument. It is located at the junction of Chatham Street and Janadhipathi Mawatha (formerly Queens Road) in Colombo Fort. A historic maritime landmark exists in Colombo with its lighthouse situated at Galbokka Point near the Port of Colombo. The lighthouse, with its 29 meters in height and 12-meter-high concrete foundation along with four lion statues, was completed in 1952 to succeed the former lighthouse. A magnificent vantage point to see the Indian Ocean stretches from the lighthouse, which represents Sri Lanka’s maritime background. Visitors cannot access the location due to security restrictions, but the site continues to represent an important combination of culture and history.
