The Kottawa Rainforest and Arboretum is on Udugama Road, about 17 km from Galle. It is a part of the Kottawa Kombala Conservation Forest measuring 1,800 hectares. A wide track runs for about a kilometer through the gloom of the rainforest. As it is also an arboretum, many of the trees are identified with name boards at the entrance. Despite its abundance of orchids, hanging creepers, sheets of moss, and exotic birds, it is a less- known rainforest. For experiencing the rainforest, a comfortable walk through it is recommended.
