This hall was built in commemoration of the freedom from British rule and is set in the peaceful surroundings of Colombo. It has a capacity of 25,000 seats. Since the beginning, this memorial has been meant to be the symbol of the glorious history of the country. But the hall was rarely used for large events, and part of the ground is now converted into a sports complex. A jogging path has been built around this area and has become a popular gathering place for kids and adults.
