Deegawapi Dagoba is the 6th holiest place out of the 16 most sacred worship places of Buddhist pilgrimage in Sri Lanka, where the Buddha had been. It was built by Prince Saddhatissa, the younger son of King Kawantissa of Ruhuna, in the 3rd century BC. It suffered many destructions; however, a few significant things can be seen, such as the Deegawapi Stupa, Shrine Room, Mal Asnaya, Eth Panthiya (a row of elephant statues), and Bo Trees.
