It is located in Kegalle District and approximately 80 km from Colombo.

When?
It can be visited all year long, though April to September offers the best weather.

Alu Lena is one of the archaeologically valued places, located about 3 km from Molagoda, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. The name derives from the presence of ashes. The place is said to be occupied by game poachers. Excavations have revealed the ruins of stone implements that were used over 15,000 years ago. In addition to that, several statues, paintings, and inscriptions can also be seen at the Alu Lena site.
