It is also named St. Benedict’s Monastery. Adisham Bungalow is situated just 2 km from Haputale town and was built by the British honorable man and planter. Sir Thomas Lister Villiers in 1931 took 4 years to complete. It is situated on 10 acres of land. The bungalow is made of dynamic granite stone walls and long, narrowed windows and chimneys. Obviously it’s a luxury house. Not only the roof but also the doors, windows, staircase and floors were all covered with flat Burma teak. All the materials used to build the bungalow were imported from England. In 1961 it was purchased by the Roman Catholic Church and transformed into a Roman Catholic monastery.
