Thivanka Image House in Polonnaruwa is a place where the most important paintings of the Polonnaruwa period in their original form can be seen. It was built by King Parakramabahu I. The expression Thivanka literally means three curves. The image house got this name because the main Buddha statue is curved in three places. It is 20 meters long and 7 meters wide. The frescoes present the Jataka Stories; besides colourful drawings, two guard stones and two KorawakGala can be seen here.
