Pomparippu Burial Site is a historical cemetery in Mannar. It is proof of the lost culture of the country. It was discovered by A. M. Hocart, and many excavations revealed that it contains about 8,000 burials containing the remains of 10,000-12,000 people and 14 burials containing the skeletal remains of about 23 people. Objects such as grave goods, metal jewelry, copper bracelets, paste beads, tools, leaf-shaped iron blades, and many other artifacts testify to a highly developed material culture.
