Nilavarai Well is located in Nilavarai, Achchveli, 14 km north of Jaffna. It is popular for its square well of unknown depth. It is believed to be formed from an arrow shot by Hanuman to quench Rama’s thirst. Besides the beauty, the well has an endless water supply.

In Jaffna people know the underground water source Nilavarai Well under its popular nickname “The Bottomless Well.” The bottomless well remains full of water despite dry seasons, and no water depletion has been observed so far. The attraction makes an important link to the Keerimalai Freshwater Pool and retains cultural and geological importance.
