Bolgoda

This is the largest natural lake in Sri Lanka, spanning Colombo and Kalutara districts.
Where?
It is located in the Kalutara district and approximately 30 km from Colombo.
When?
The best time to visit is from December to April for pleasant weather and outdoor activities.
Bolgoda, or Bolgoda Estuary, is a known tourist place in the Kalutara district; there is the Bolgoda River, with many small islands, which flows into the sea at Panadura. This estuary is named Bolgoda Bird Sanctuary because of the numerous known aquatic birds and animals. Many resorts are situated along the river. Attractive scenery and leisure facilities and activities are a good reason to visit the place.
