Madukanda Temple is one of the main attractions 5km from Vavuniya. According to the historical data, the construction of this ancient temple was done by a famous giant in Sri Lanka’s history called Nandimithra. Madukanda Temple belongs to the pre-Christian times, and it is believed to be the fourth resting point of the sacred Buddha tooth relic. There are several ruins of images and statues. The temple provides accommodation and other basic facilities to pilgrims and other travellers free of charge.
