Parakramabahu Palace in Polonnaruwa belonged to King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. It is also called Weijantha Prasada. This palace was an impressive 7-story building, covering 10 acres of land. The surrounding main wall had 40 interconnected rooms. There were thousands of chambers supported by hundreds of pillars in the entire palace complex. There are ruins of the audience hall, which contains pillars with inscriptions showing the seats allocated to each minister, the Lion Throne, on which the king sat, the king’s bathing pond, a square well with water spill, and a circular chamber used as a dressing room.
