Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya is another famous Buddhist temple in Nainathivu (Nagadeepa). It is one of the sites the Buddha visited during his second trip to Sri Lanka. It was built by two Naga kings, who were at war, Mahodara and his nephew Chulodara. The stumbling block was a chair decorated with gems. Many pilgrims visit this place because of the famous Rajayathana stupa. Viharaya was reconstructed by many Sinhala kings like Devanampiya Tissa and Dutugemunu. Therefore, this Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya is a good illustration of interracial harmony in Sri Lanka.
