This library in Jaffna stands as a defining symbol that represents the power of survival. The library opened as one of Asia’s largest libraries in 1933, before it contained more than 97,000 books and manuscripts. After suffering destruction in 1981, the organization rebuilt the library and now operates as a cultural and academic institution for the community. Visitors are drawn to this site because of its impressive classical architecture and its attractive green gardens.
