Henarathgoda Botanical Garden
What?
This is also known as Gampaha Botanical Garden. It features a wide variety of tropical plants and serene landscapes.
Where?
It is located in the Gampaha district and approximately 29 km from Colombo.
When?
It can be visited all year long, but December to March offers cooler and more comfortable weather.
The garden contains a wide range of plants indigenous to tropical countries. The first rubber plant was planted at Henarathgoda Botanical Garden in 1876. The rubber seeds were taken from their native Brazil. Once rubber trees blossomed, these were distributed throughout the island.
