The best time to visit the Dambetenne Tea Factory is January to March for clear skies and beautiful tea fields. But it can be visited all year long.
The colonial Dambatenne Tea factory is located in the eastern part of Haputale. It is just 11 km from the town. The Dambetena estate extends to 2500 acres while providing residencies for a population of 4600. So far approximately 1300 of them are workers. This long white factory was built by Sir Thomas Lipton. There are so many tea estates in the Haputale area. But few factories are allowed to travel for the visitors. Dambatenne Tea Factory is the chronic manufacturer and a distributor of Lipton’s Tea Ltd. You can explore the traditional tea making process, fermentation, rolling, drying, cutting, and grading in the factory. The factory produces the finest black tea. It’s sad that taking photos in the factory is not allowed.
