Ratnapura National Museum

Ratnapura National Museum keeps and displays one of the best ancient relic collections in the country. It is housed in a beautiful building called Ehelapola Walawuwa, which belongs to the 19h century. A collection of prehistoric fossils of elephants, rhinoceroses and hippopotamuses found in gem pits from the Balangoda area, stuffed animals and snakes in jars, cultural musical instruments, traditional masks, local textiles, flags and local fabrics are the most interesting exhibits.
