Balangoda Manawaya was a functionally modern human from Sri Lanka. The caves are a historically valued place proving the existence of the primitive man and the prehistoric human habitation. The archaeological findings in this area date back to the culture of the 2nd Stone Age period. Balangoda Manawaya’s Caves (Beli-Lena Caves) are a place, where Balangoda Manawaya lived. They are located near Kithulgala, Ratnapura surrounded by giant stones and rocks. In 1969 many shells, pieces of bones of various shapes and some stone tools were discovered during excavation at this site. Archaeologists found the skeleton of a child supposedly 28,500 years old.
