There are many beautiful waterfalls, mountain forests, wild areas and national parks. Nuwara Eliya is a popular travel destination because it offers bird-watching, eco-tourism and adventure sports (trekking and hiking) due to its landscape. The British explorer Sir Samuel White Baker founded this city. Nuwara Eliya was starting to get inhabited in the 19th century.
